Anyone who looks at woman lustfully has already committed adultery in his heart. Every man in crowd just became adulterer without touching anyone. Jesus isn't being puritanical—He's being practical. Saint Anthony of Padua (1195-1231), born Fernando Martins in Lisbon, was originally an Augustinian canon who joined the Franciscans after being inspired by Franciscan martyrs. Known as the "Hammer of Heretics" for his powerful preaching against the Cathars and other heresies, he became one of the Church's greatest preachers and theologians.
