What Identity are We Giving Our Kids?

Doesn't seem like a big deal but it is.

The inner talk you have right now didn't come from you. It most likely came from your parents, teachers, relatives, or other adults in your life.

Nick names, what you believe you're good or bad at, whether you think you're a confident or nervous person, very well could have came from statements made by important adults in our lives thousands of times over.

These statements most often are not true. They are generalizations of one moment that cast massive implications on the character of the person we're giving them to.

"You always sleep in" You never put your toys away" "You're so sloppy, lazy, stupid" "You always cry" "Stop being such a baby" "why can't you be like your sister" ....add in your own.

Our inner tape lays the groundwork for our identity.
We then live up to the identity we have of ourselves.
