It’s Time to be Honest About Taylor Swift

Oh boy, I’m probably kicking a hornet’s nest here.

Swifties aren’t really known for being level-headed. They like to react fast, without thought, and defend their Goddess.

Who, to be fair, I don’t think I’m attacking.

I likes me the TS.

And by that, I mean both Taylor Swift, and Mr. Elliot.

(Inside literary reference, sorry.)

I think Speak Now, Red, and 1989 are great albums.

I can listen to them all day.

When I heard she was re-recording them, I was cautious, but optimistic.

I got why she was doing it, and thought it was great she was defending her art.

But, they were different.

And, dammit, she changed the lyrics in ‘Better Than Revenge.’

Don’t do that.

Don’t change lyrics.

Did South Park teach you nothing about “updating” something that was a classic?

(See their episodes on George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, for reference.)

So, while I gave Taylor’s Versions a shot, I couldn’t listen to them overall.

It had to be the classics.

Maybe that makes me a traitor to the Swifties, but hey…

What else could I be?

All apologies.
