Burkina Faso: Traore Says Conspiracy Foiled After Assassination Attempts | Firstpost Africa | N18G

Burkina Faso's military leader and interim President Ibrahim Traore has once again said that a sinister plot against him has been foiled. Traore has repeatedly claimed to be the target of conspiracies and assassination attempts. In the latest development, the Burkina Faso junta leader stated that foreign powers are pressuring one member of the Alliance of the Sahel States (AES) to betray the others. Traore says foreign powers were pushing hard to fracture the newly formed regional bloc of Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali. Earlier, Traore also claimed several attempts to overthrow him. In April this year, the Junta said it had foiled a plot to overthrow Traore, which was allegedly orchestrated by current and former soldiers in Ivory Coast. Also in April, Traore had claimed to survive a conspiracy involving at least 119 plotters allegedly linked to former junta leader Damiba.
