Now, how does one describe Xasthur and where do i begin the descent into the black world in which malefic inhabited on so many of these releases? Let me just state that in order to fully comprehend and really be able to absorb Xasthur's music? i recommend a complete period of total solitude where you aren't going to be bothered or disturbed because what we have here is not only music, but an experience. In the hate of battle opens this experience up and immediately draws you into its ice cold black desolated world. The keyboards serve as a sort of focal point that balance the dissonant guitar tracks that are both playing 2 different melodies at the same time and it almost gives you a feeling of being both entranced and dejected at the same time.
Drums plod undearneath the muddy raw production and drive the madness forth with Malefic screaming and shrieking at such high levels you often wonder how he didnt get a migraine headache? well he did, he often stated in interviews that his shrieks of tormented despair caused many migraines. Yes folks thats how fucking real this emotional rollercoaster of an album is.
This is not really meant as entertainment or even a palatable piece of art for those who dont understand affliction of this magnitude. This is pure emotion and nothing else. You wont find strong technical prowess or riffs of "skill". What you will find is melancholic black haze and distorted perceptions of reality lost in time and blackness with nothing but the screams of death and despair clawing at your soul the entire 70 minutes that this monolithic monolgue goes on for!

Soul Abuduction ceremony carries this same sickness of total despair with intense melancholic melodies erupting forth and swallowing you whole submerging you in black bile that injects itself slicing through your vibratory emotional sense of well being and literally drains all the life from you. Moments of panic driven double bass with some extremely frantic keyboard notes signify a complete mental breakdown of all things rational With malefics screams and echoes of pure rage filled torment coming forth from behind the buzzing melancholic guitar work with some ererie bleak keyboard passages that create a sense of nausea from the imbalanced melodic structure.

There is a seasick sense of melody and ugliness combined here that give it a very schizophrenic feel. the beauty and ugliness create a dissasocciated feel that makes it extremely terrifying to embrace, but make no mistake about it... you will embrace it, because this music will seep its way into your subconscious and peremeate even your strongest waking moments in time while you listen to it.
The depth of sadness and complete misantrhopic isolation in the vocals and the music carry you into unknown surreal soundscapes that swirl and wrap themselves around you like a cloak with razor sharp teeth that gnaws its way into your flesh so deep it makes your bones ache.
