My Paranormal Encounter on the USS Rentz

I had one paranormal experience that I can’t explain. I was serving on board the USS Rentz a guided missile frigate out of San Diego. I had the balls to four watch ( 12 am to 4 am ) top side security rover on a Friday night. Normally for that watch it’s beyond boring the most exciting thing you can hope for is a bunch of drunk sailors stumbling in from hard drinking in Tijuana. I was looking over the starboard bridge wing at group stumbling all over when I caught a glimpse of something moving in the pilot house. I glanced didn’t see anything and went back to watching the sailors. I turned around and started back to the fan tail to yell down to the officer of the deck that all was secured and standing right in the middle of the pilot house was a sailor wearing dungarees and a Dixie cup on his head he was young blond haired and he was wearing the old style green duty belt with what looked like one of the older style holsters for a pistol. I was taken off guard and I headed into the pilot house and started to open the WTD and he was gone. I was taken aback by this and the whole time I was thinking who the hell was that and why was he wearing the dungarees we haven’t worn those in ten yrs. I took it as me being tired and probably one of the other sailors just being on the pilot house. About and hour later I was on the pilot house texting my GF and I turned and standing about 10 feet away was the same guy and as fast as saw him he was gone. By this time I was pretty freaked out and I didn’t know if someone was messing with me or I was hallucinating. The rest of the watch I stood by the back of the 03 level above the quarter deck. I had always heard the rumors of the sailor who committed suicide and haunted the ship but it wasn’t till later when I joined the Rentz alumni page on Facebook till I found out the whole story. There was a young sailor during precomm ( right before commissioning of the ship ) he had internal rover watch and he had a problem with one of the Chief petty officers and he went looking for him in the chiefs mess and when he couldn’t find him he turned the .45 on himself. I saw the photo of the kid on the page and it was spot on the apparition I saw that night. Many other people have seen him over the years and there were a lot of stories on their encounters with him. The Rentz is decommissioned now and was used as target practice for some hot shot pilots off of Hawaii. I sometimes wonder if he’s still on the ship now at the bottom of the pacific or he has moved on. All I can hope for is he will Rest In Peace.
