New clashes erupted in Los Angeles on the third day of demonstrations against Donald Trump's crackdown on immigration. The situation escalated when police vehicles were attacked with rocks thrown from overpasses. Officers were forced to take shelter under bridges as debris rained down on them. Thousands of protesters took to the streets after Trump deployed National Guard troops to the city.
California's governor has formally asked the president to withdraw the troops, saying their deployment is "unlawful". Trump claims that the National Guard is in LA to ensure "law and order".
