Ed the zebra, a runaway pet that became an internet sensation, was safely captured in Tennessee after more than a week on the loose.

Authorities found him in a pasture near a subdivision in Christiana and airlifted him by helicopter to an animal trailer.

Ed had escaped on May 31 and was seen running along Interstate 24, prompting a road closure.

Social media lit up with sightings and humorous memes during the search, The Guardian has reported.

His capture follows a similar incident in April involving a runaway kangaroo in Alabama.
