The NBA Finals are heating up, and Game 2 between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder delivered exactly what fans were hoping for—high energy, major performances, and a tied series that’s shaping up to be unforgettable.
After a narrow defeat in Game 1, the Oklahoma City Thunder came out in Game 2 with a clear mission: make a statement. And that’s exactly what they did. The Thunder dominated the game with a final score of 123 to 107, evening the series at one game apiece and sending a loud message to the Pacers and the rest of the league.
The turning point came in the second quarter, when the Thunder went on a massive 19 to 2 run. That stretch changed everything. What had been a tight game suddenly turned into a blowout, with Oklahoma City leading by 23 points. Unlike in Game 1, when they let a double-digit lead slip away in the fourth quarter, the Thunder never let Indiana back into the contest. They kept their foot on the gas and controlled the pace until the final buzzer.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again proved why he’s the cornerstone of this young Thunder team. He put up 34 points, dished out 8 assists, and grabbed 5 rebounds. He was nearly perfect from the free-throw line, hitting 11 of 12 attempts, and played a crucial role in that game-changing second quarter run.
But this game wasn’t just about SGA. Oklahoma City’s depth showed up in a big way. Aaron Wiggins came off the bench and delivered 18 points, while Alex Caruso added 20 more. That kind of bench production is a nightmare for any opponent and gave the Thunder the upper hand all night.
Among the starters, Jalen Williams bounced back with 19 points, showing improved efficiency and going 8 for 9 from the free-throw line. Chet Holmgren also had a much better showing than in Game 1, contributing 15 points and playing solid defense in the paint.
On the Pacers’ side, Tyrese Haliburton led the team with 17 points, 12 of which came in the fourth quarter when the game was already slipping away. No other Pacers player managed to score 20 points, and turnovers proved costly once again. Indiana committed 15 turnovers, which the Thunder turned into 14 points. While that’s slightly more efficient than the 11 points Oklahoma City scored off 25 turnovers in Game 1, it wasn’t enough to keep them in the game.
The Thunder’s improved defensive pressure, combined with their offensive rhythm and bench scoring, completely shifted the tone of the series. They fixed the late-game issues from Game 1 and played with poise and confidence throughout Game 2.
Now, the focus shifts to Game 3, which will be held in Indianapolis on Wednesday, June 11. It’s a big moment for the Pacers, as it will be their first NBA Finals game at home in 25 years. With the series tied 1–1, Game 3 could be a major momentum swing for either team.
For the Thunder, maintaining the energy and execution they showed in Game 2 will be key. For the Pacers, the home crowd and a stronger all-around performance will be crucial if they want to regain control of the series.
This Finals matchup between the Pacers and Thunder is turning into a battle of resilience, strategy, and star power. Both teams have shown they can win, but now it’s about who can do it consistently on the biggest stage.
Stay tuned, because if the first two games are any indication, we’re in for an epic NBA Finals series.
