The last several decades have unfortunately witnessed a waning in Marian devotion and piety. At least part of the reason for this is that Marian piety is a sticking point between Catholic and non-Catholic Christians, and in an effort to avoid any unnecessary confrontation, Catholics tend to keep Marian devotions quietly to themselves.
