Experimental food-plot results of sowing antler builder’s spring/summer seed mix into the area of woodmaxx’s MX9900 wood-chips after letting it decompose over the winter. Experienced good and rapid germination of seed, experienced good fungal fruiting activity showing good fungal networks building and breaking down the woody fibers of the chips, preventing soil erosion from thinning activity and holding moisture with the high organic matter content to give seeds a great environment to thrive. With the rich soils building I am expecting to have a lush food plot in no time.

This experimental food plot within a recently thinned area will provide a cover crop to prevent obnoxious weeds from moving in and to provide high quality deer and turkey habitat features.

By utilizing the soft transition zone from thick forest to open field with the heavy -to-light thinning will provide a diversity in bird nesting and bat roosting habitat and allow the hunter/photographer to fully utilize features of the property to enjoy wildlife activity through hunting or photography blinds or pavilions for a wooded park like backdrop.
