Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise set a Guinness World Record by performing 16 consecutive parachute jumps while filming the latest installment of the series.

This breathtaking stunt was performed in a sequence from the movie Mission: Impossible - Fallout, where Cruise had to jump from a great height while his parachute was burning.

Cruise says behind the scenes of one of these jumps, "If the parachute twists, I'll go into a spin and burn. I only have 10 seconds to react." This scene will probably be Tom Cruise's last major stunt as "Ethan Hunt." However, Cruise has not yet confirmed his retirement from the series, and at the Cannes Film Festival he only said that he wanted people to see the film and enjoy it. It all ends here.

The new Mission: Impossible installment broke the record for the series' biggest opening with $200 million in global sales of $360 million.

After setting the record, Cruz said in a message to fans: "I am incredibly grateful to all my colleagues and the viewers around the world for whom I do these things."

The film Mission: Impossible - Fallout is currently showing in theaters.
