Tripping on Travel: Road to Belknap Mountain, Gilford, NH

Off of Belknap Mountain Rd, branches Carriage Rd, where I was located in this video. Connecting to Carriage Rd is Piper Mountain Trail, and viewers will catch a glimpse of it. Across from that trail, a short northwest distance away, is Gunstock Mountain Trail that travels northeast to Gunstock Mountain. Maps show that further up Carriage Rd, there are other hiking trails to explore. The map tells us Carriage Rd is the one road that twists and turns it's way up Belknap Mountain. However, I was not able to take the walking tour from the road using the Bing online map, because it appears the car and camera that took images on Carriage Rd only went so far, and they ended the photography a short distance after Piper Mountain Trail connects to Carriage Rd.

While at this location off Carriage Rd in this first video, there are no sign of people other than some graffiti left behind on the guardrail and beneath the bridge. Someone spelled out 'Big Bird 24' on the guardrail. The mountain stream in the video was in accessible to me. At the same time, neither this stream nor the stream in subsequent footage were indicated on the Bing map. I was looking for names. So they remain unidentified, if indeed they are named. The sounds of human civilization are completely absent in this video. No road traffic, no voices, no hikers, no airplanes. Just the sound of the mountain stream and an occasional bird. During my entire time on Carriage Rd on that day, no one else was using it. Nice! But still, I was not aware of what wildlife was present in the environment. So I avoided going too deep into the woods. I was alone and unprepared for trouble.
