Before getting into todays episode around scripture I wanted to discuss, Current Crisis and Catholic Responsibility
“One Life. One Judgment. One Faith.”
We live in a time of profound spiritual confusion. The world has turned upside down, calling good evil and evil good, and tragically, many in the modern Catholic Church reflect this same disorder. Rather than offering clarity, conviction, and courage, many of our bishops and clergy mirror the language of the world: ambiguity instead of doctrine, humanism instead of Christ, and political correctness instead of preaching the Cross. Too often, sermons have been stripped of substance. Gone are the fire and clarity of apostolic preaching. In their place are generic platitudes and soothing words that fail to challenge, fail to convert, and ultimately fail to save.
Where is the preaching on sin, judgment, and hell? Where are the calls to repentance, conversion, and sacrificial living? These core truths, once boldly proclaimed by the saints and martyrs, are now often avoided, silenced, or dismissed as “divisive.” Meanwhile, the faithful especially our children are being indoctrinated by a culture of death, gender confusion, and relativism. Even worse, they are often abandoned by the very shepherds who were ordained to protect them. This is the buried talent of our age the willful neglect of truth by those in authority. And many will face severe judgment for this silence and complicity.
As traditional Catholics, we cannot stand idle. We must rise up and proclaim the unchanging truths of the Faith, without apology and without fear. There is one true Church, founded by Christ upon Peter, outside of which there is no salvation. The sacraments are not optional; they are necessary for eternal life. Marriage, instituted by God, is indissoluble. Human life is sacred from conception to natural death. These truths are not up for revision or negotiation they are the divine deposit entrusted to the Church and safeguarded for all time.
We must not wait for others to defend the Faith. We must become the defenders. That means catechizing our children with clarity, teaching them to recognize error and love the truth. It means speaking up in our parishes and forming communities rooted in Tradition. It means living the Faith not as a cultural relic, but as the burning center of our lives. The time for passivity is over. As Our Lord warned, “He that shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in Heaven” (Matthew 10:33).
And yet, amid the battle, we are not without hope. For those who remain faithful who endure with courage and charity the words of Christ await: “Well done, good and faithful servant... enter into the joy of thy Lord” (Matthew 25:23). That is the eternal prize. But we must remember: we only get one chance to get this right. One life. One judgment. No do-overs.
This is our moment to act not in fear, but in fidelity. Not in compromise, but in courage. We must proclaim the truth of Christ boldly, form the next generation of Catholics firmly, and live each day as if our eternity depends on it because it does.
So let us rise, teach, suffer, and rejoice for the truth, for the Church, and for the glory of God. Be faithful. Be fearless. Be Catholic.
Epistle – Ecclesiasticus (Sirach) 44:16–27
"Behold, Enoch pleased God, and was translated into paradise, that he may give repentance to the nations. Noe was found perfect, just, and in the time of wrath he was made a reconciliation. Therefore was there a remnant left to the earth when the flood came. Everlasting covenants were made with him that all flesh should not perish by the flood. Abraham was the great father of a multitude of nations..."
This sacred text from Ecclesiasticus is a meditation on the faithfulness of God and the merits of His chosen servants throughout salvation history. The litany of patriarchs Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob reminds us that the Lord calls individuals to cooperate with His grace in their generation.
Each of these men responded in obedience, trust, and action:
• Enoch walked with God and was translated into Paradise
• Noah preserved the human race through fidelity in the face of a perverse generation
• Abraham obeyed the call to leave everything and became the father of many nations
Their greatness lies not in personal ambition, but in their faithful stewardship of what God entrusted to them. In our time, as we await the descent of the Holy Ghost anew at Pentecost, we are called to be likewise faithful with what has been given to us our families, vocations, parishes, and souls.
Gospel – Matthew 25:14–23
"For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his servants and delivered to them his goods... After a long time the lord of those servants came, and reckoned with them... Well done, good and faithful servant; because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will place thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."
This Gospel passage is the well-known Parable of the Talents. Here, Our Lord teaches about accountability and readiness in the time of His physical absenc which reflects the period we are currently living: between the Ascension and the Second Coming.
Three servants are entrusted with differing amounts. Two invest and multiply their talents; the third buries his in the earth. The master rewards not according to amount, but according to faithful effort. The third servant is condemned, not for theft or rebellion, but for sloth and fear.
This is a solemn warning to us: the graces, sacraments, and teachings we have received must not be buried out of fear or complacency. Our Lord expects fruit. Faithful stewardship is not merely about maintaining the status quo, but risking ourselves in trust of God's goodness.
As St. John Chrysostom taught: "The servant is not praised for making ten talents, but for being faithful."
Today, we must ask ourselves:
• Are we using the spiritual gifts entrusted to us?
• Are we evangelizing, teaching, forming our children in the faith?
• Are we generous with our time, treasure, and witness?
The time between Ascension and Pentecost is not for spiritual idleness but for action in hope.
Saint of the Day: St. Norbert (c. 1080–1134)
St. Norbert was a German bishop and founder of the Premonstratensians (Norbertines). Originally a worldly cleric, he experienced a radical conversion and embraced a life of austerity and evangelization. As Archbishop of Magdeburg, he fought against heresy and worked to reform lax clergy.
His life mirrors today’s Gospel he did not bury his talents but invested them in service of the Kingdom. He is a powerful intercessor for reform in the Church and zeal among priests.
Conclusionary Prayer
O Lord Jesus Christ, who hast ascended into heaven to prepare a place for us, grant that we may not grow idle or cold in Thy seeming absence. Teach us to be faithful stewards of all that Thou hast entrusted to our care. Send Thy Holy Ghost to strengthen our will, inflame our charity, and guide our every action to Thy glory.
Through the intercession of Thy saints, especially St. Norbert, may we bear abundant fruit until the day Thou dost return. Amen.
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
