Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
Tenzin Palmo is an English nun, an English woman who was became a nun and practiced very intensely in the mountains of northern India, and is famous as a very, very great teacher and highly respected. In this important quote, she is reminding us of the basic Buddhist teaching that life is short and fragile. And as she says, this is not a depressing thought, but it is a encouragement to be fully present and to be the best we can be in each moment. We never know when our life will come to an end, and living fully in the present is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves.
