US Travellers Warned To Not Use Dating Apps In Mexico | Firstpost America | N18G

The US Consulate in Guadalajara has issued a warning after confirming several incidents of Americans being kidnapped by individuals they met on dating apps in Mexico, particularly in Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Nayarit. Victims were reportedly extorted for large sums of money, with violence not confined to a single region. The consulate urged travellers to exercise extreme caution, meet only in public spaces, and inform friends or family of their plans. The State Department currently classifies Jalisco as "Level 3: Reconsider Travel" and Nayarit as “Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution” due to widespread crime, including kidnappings and extortion schemes.
