Bitcoingate Czech Republic
A billion from drug and arms sales as a gift to the state? No, this isn't Colombia, this is happening here in the Czech Republic. The Ministry of Justice accepted bitcoins worth almost 1 billion crowns from convicted drug dealer Tomáš Jiříkovský. Yes, the state calmly accepted a gift from the underworld from the sale of drugs, child pornography, weapons, and who knows what else. But what's worse, it helped the dealer legalize up to 12 billion in money. A dirty billion flowed through the state, which cleaned it up, and thanks to that, the remaining 11 billion is also beautifully laundered. Typical money laundering. This case of enormous proportions is now being investigated by the FBI.
What does Prime Minister Fiala have to say about it? At first, he assured everyone that everything was in order. But his version began to change day by day. Friday: it's ultra-legal, there's nothing cleaner than this. Saturday: Fiala knew nothing about it. Sunday: Fiala only found out after the donation. Monday: Fiala knew about it.
Apparently, Blažek told him about it in the hallway as a historian. Tuesday: Fiala suddenly convenes the State Security Council and wants information from the secret services. Yet that should have been the first thing he did when he found out about such a thing. Finance Minister Stanjura knew about it but did not intervene.
Worse still, the day before this mega scandal broke, he came up with a proposal to abolish the tax on cryptocurrency sales over CZK 40 million. By the way, Blažek approached the Ministry of Finance about bitcoins at the end of January, but none of them are to blame and the amount does not add up either. Every day is a different fairy tale. They contradict themselves in every other sentence. Fiala's government helped the dealer launder money and lost all credibility. This huge corruption scandal, the biggest in the history of the Czech Republic, is unprecedented, and Fiala's entire government must go.
