Historically House republicans ended earmarking in 2011. This was in response to concerns about corruption and wasteful spending. It was revived in 2021 by Democrats in which House republicans voted to also participate in earmarking. In 2024, republicans directed more earmarks to their side of the aisle than democrats.
These lawmakers don’t want to stop it. They stole an election, installed a robot, and put trillions of dollars on the books. And republicans are in on it. When they say we need to roll spending back to pre-COVID spending, this is why. Republicans are going to tell you that they are fiscal hawks. And they were supportive of Elon Musk’s DOGE. We were supposed to get 12 appropriation bills but then we were told that we only had one chance to pass the bill and it all had to go into one bill for reconciliation.
Republicans: Clean up the bill, reduce spending, get rid of the earmarks, do what you promised.
