In this original, unaired pilot for Lost in Space, the Robinson family—Professor John Robinson, his wife Maureen, and their three children, Judy, Penny, and Will—embark on a mission aboard the Gemini 12 spacecraft to colonize a planet in the Alpha Centauri system. Accompanied by their pilot, Major Don West, they are knocked off course by a meteor storm and become hopelessly lost in deep space. As they struggle to survive on alien worlds, they encounter strange environments and face life-threatening challenges. Notably, the pilot lacks two key elements later added to the series: Dr. Smith and the iconic robot.

This version focuses more on realistic science fiction adventure and family dynamics, with a tone closer to Swiss Family Robinson in space.
