Only America celebrates primary, middle, and high school student graduations.

#1. Doesn’t it make your ass hurt when you see an elementary school [grades 1 ~ 6] holding graduation commencement exercises and even a celebration dance? Let’s not forget the “Government Elementary School #666’s” Student year book. It’s a big moment for clueless young parents who think this is “normal?”

#2. Parents pay for photos, yearbooks, are you ready for this? Caps and Gowns for the Graduating Class! This is as stupid as it gets! “I’ve seen a lot of really dumb shit in my life!” This sheer idiocy should hit you in the gut as much as your pocketbook! As pomp and circumstance plays in the background, the school principal calls each “graduate” to accept their diploma. Somebody get me a barf bag!

#3. Graduating from elementary school is about as difficult as tying your shoes [which many of these kids still can't seem to master.] Hell, most of them can’t read a clock! Their “diplomas” are “participation trophies” and that’s all. Nobody fails elementary school anymore, administration won’t let that happen because it dips into next year’s funding! As long as students show up “most” of the time they graduate, especially where minority students are involved.

#4. Yet, here are proud [why?] and ignorant parents paying for cap and gown rentals, party admission, class photos, and of course the precious School Year Book. An elementary school near me had a number of limousines parked out front. What in Hell is that all about?

#5. Now it gets really stupid! Graduating from middle school [grades 7 ~ 8] is celebrated with even more hoopla as parents fawn over their little shits who completed these two remarkably unchallenging grades. Again caps, gowns, party admission, photos all rise to the surface as this minor accomplishment is given more fanfare, pomp, and circumstance than the award of a Bachelor’s Degree [not that an American B.A. is ‘all that’ important.]

#6. Now for the third and final inflamed boil on the buttocks of public education: Here is the longstanding farcical celebration of High School Graduation. Here is where the whole cap and gown, yearbook, awards, keynote speaker, graduation ball, and gifts from proud parents come into play. Mom and Dad are so damned proud even though half of them can’t tell you why! Do you realize that in the United States, nearly 18% of High School graduates finish school functionally illiterate; unable to follow the instructions on a package of macaroni and cheese dinner? That is according to the Pew Research Study of 2023.

#7. In light of what a high school diploma means [or doesn’t mean, or used to mean.] the overall scheme of things shows it to be borderline worthless. The only real advantage to finishing high school is that it allows you to go on to college [not that that’s a treat] or trade school. Remember too that the High School Diploma of 1960 is an achievement equal to obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in 2022! Again, this is according to the Pew study of 2020!

#8. I reel in the insanity of the American “Graduation Scam”. Parents, Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts spend many millions of dollars celebrating an erstwhile meaningless accomplishment. They're celebrating the completion of 12 years of babysitting, organized sports, and social gathering; and that’s all!

#9. Were our schools producing well-balanced and educated children, these awards might have meaning. Well, maybe High School Graduation would. However, I won’t budge on my opinion of the silly-as-shit of this Primary / Middle School Graduation scam.

Summary: This pertains almost exclusively to government funded “public education” and not the many quality private and parochial schools out there. Yes, there are still children graduating from High School who are highly literate and well informed. These young graduates have their wits about them and are a very canny group. Oh, did I tell you; “They come from Catholic, Protestant, and Private schools.” Hmmm
