Israel’s Spokesman’s Insane TV Attack Goes Hilariously Wrong!

Right, so for anyone now familiar with the deeply unpleasant sight of Israel’s apologist in chief that presents himself as spokesman for the Israeli government, the British former Chair of Labour Friends of Israel, David Mencer, him popping up may well elicit a groan, because you know the indefensible will be defended, with equal amounts of disinformation, arrogance, and aggression. Handing someone with a Napoleon complex licence to defend Israel no matter what they’ve done or plan to do was never going to be something that would appeal to most people who are already rightly appalled over the last 20 months of Israel’s genocide of Gaza, but where so many of us have been calling this out for some time, the mainstream media has been typically two scats behind, either because the editorial line is so stringent they can’t speak out, for others they may fear for their positions, given several well known presenters have lost their jobs for daring to challenge an Israeli spox, from Sangita Myska, to Gary Lineker and more besides.
Therefore you kind of hope Krishnan Guru-Murthy isn’t going to get Linekered for what he has done to Mencer here, because he triggered an absolute meltdown in Mencer and its 9 minutes of absolute gloriousness and shows mainstream media are capable of holding Israel to account and all they have to offer in return, are lies, accusations and claims of being victimised. This is a masterclass in exposing Israel for the lies they spew and if you’re still in doubt, David Mencer, the Israeli government spokesman, flailing around like a drunk in a kebab shop doorway really ought to do just that.
Right, so that was a longer clip than I usually put out, but I hope you agree it was worth it, because it might be one of the most singularly damaging interviews to Israel they’ve yet taken part in and that David Mencer was the one falling apart was a delicious dose of karma in my view, given how typically odious he always seems to be and I commend Krishnan for keeping it calm and collected whilst hammering him with questions he was desperate to avoid answering and when he finally did, only made matters worse for himself.
What unfolded was not merely a tense exchange—it was a devastating exposure of the Israeli government's failing justifications for its actions in Gaza. Mencer's evasions, contradictions, and inflammatory accusations laid bare the crumbling edifice of Israel's narrative, the propaganda no longer working, particularly concerning the humanitarian catastrophe surrounding those supposed aid deliveries in Gaza.
Mencer attempted to justify Israel's actions by alleging that Hamas was stealing aid and charging civilians for it.
However, reports have surfaced as I’ve covered in recent videos, indicating that Israel has been employing terror gangs in Gaza, including individuals linked to ISIS, who are actually stealing the aid and charging people for it. This was a point raised by the Chair of Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor Ramy Abdu the other day, where he stated that anyone who attempted to take a bag of flour without paying 100 shekels (≈ US $30) was shot at or beaten by the gang backed by the occupation army. This was actually the truth behind the video Mencer kept citing, which Krishnan repeatedly debunked as from another incident in another place.
From the get-go then, Mencer's claims were completely undermined by known facts, which throughout he refuted and refused to acknowledge, kept saying that is the Hamas line, that is what Hamas want you to think and so it legitimately raises serious questions about the integrity of Israel's aid distribution mechanisms, the GHF, it’s a sham and people are dying trying to collect aid, a choice between risking that or dying of starvation is what Israel are presiding over.
Mencer further claimed that Hamas had control over aid distribution previously, necessitating a divorce between aid and Hamas. This assertion implicitly targeted the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which Israel has banned from operating in Gaza. UNRWA had been legitimately feeding, treating, and educating people in Gaza. Israel's banning of this UN agency, based on unsubstantiated claims, led to a dearth of funding for the group several months ago, but again, that fell through as a pack of unsubstantiated Israeli lies. It led to a vacuum of support and aid that has now been filled by far less credible organizations, such as the GHF, which, supposedly a US entity, turns out to have been Israeli sponsored and is now reportedly funded by Mossad. The replacement of UNRWA with such a sham system is only to Israel’s benefit, not Gaza and this has been shown by the reports of the IDF gunning down civilians approaching for aid, casting doubt on the sincerity of Israel's humanitarian efforts.
When questioned about the IDF's use of lethal force against Gazans approaching said aid distribution centres though, Mencer claimed that the IDF opened fire because individuals approached aggressively. Guru-Murthy challenged this narrative, emphasizing that those approaching were starving civilians, how could they be threats? Mencer struggled to define what constituted a "threatening" approach that would justify lethal force, its not like ordinary Gazans are armed and certainly none of the footage I’ve seen of these incidents has revealed Gazans carrying weapons, more like pots and pans.
As the interview continued, Mencer got more and more desperate, accused Guru-Murthy of supporting Hamas simply for pointing out the lack of evidence implicating Hamas in attacks on aid distribution centres. Guru-Murthy found this accusation offensive, its illegal to show support for Hamas in the UK, to which Mencer responded by claiming that Guru-Murthy's questioning was offensive to Israel. It’s that old chestnut again isn’t it? This tactic of deflecting criticism by labelling it as offensive is a common strategy used to avoid accountability. Offended by everything guilty of nothing, really is a very apt description of Israel and their playing the victim card.
When pressed on the need for an independent investigation into Israel's actions, Mencer dismissed the United Nations as not respected and suggested that the UN had perpetuated the conflict by benefiting Hamas. Of course that assertion ignores the fact that Hamas emerged in 1987 as a response to Israeli occupation, not because of UN actions, UNRWA feeding them and running schools and women’s refuges. Mencer's refusal to support an independent investigation is simply Israel running scared as ever of transparency and accountability and nothing summed that up quite by his meltdown accusing Guru-Murthy of calling for an independent investigation when no other nation has them, using Britain as the example, and asking is it because we’re Jews that you demand this? Every time they play that card, they endanger Jews, be they Zionist or non-Zionist alike around the world. It has nothing to do with religion, it never has, it has everything to do with you committing a genocide.
Guru-Murthy astutely identified a pattern in Israel's statements: initial claims that are later proven false, something they’ve done again and again, something Mencer is literally paid to do and frankly you need to be a sociopath to defend what is going on. This pattern undermines the credibility of Israel's narrative and raises questions about the veracity of its justifications for military actions and forcing Israel into that position more and more when all they have are lies is something we need to see far more of. Mencer's reliance on debunked videos and unsubstantiated claims during the interview exemplifies this troubling trend.
A significant point of contention was Israel's restriction of international media access to Gaza. Mencer admitted, "We're keeping them out," when asked about allowing journalists into Gaza to verify claims. This lack of transparency forces the international community to rely solely on Israel's narrative, which has been repeatedly called into question. Furthermore, journalists in Gaza who are refuting Israel’s claims with evidence have been killed by Israeli forces, with Mencer contradictorily claiming that some were Hamas operatives in press jackets, while also stating that independent journalists are killed by Hamas. Well which is true? Who have you identified as being one or the other? Why can there not be an independent investigation to ascertain the truth? Simple, Israel would be on the losing side of that.
Nearly ten minutes into the interview, Mencer brought up the issue of hostages, stating, "We just want our hostages back." This sudden shift in focus a blatant diversion from the pressing issue of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the killing of people seeking aid. If the return of hostages were truly the primary concern, Israel might have maintained the ceasefire that was facilitating their release quite amiably a few months ago, but it was Israel that collapsed that, for no more reason than to keep Netanyahu’s psychotic backside in power.
Mencer's evasions, contradictions, and reliance on misinformation highlight the need for critical engagement with official narratives and for once we’ve seen it come from mainstream media here, Krishnan Guru-Murthy gave a masterclass in it. I cannot praise him for this interview highly enough, we need more of that and any journalist in the MSM not doing so will be compared to this and critiqued accordingly. As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues, it is imperative for the international community to demand transparency, support independent investigations, and advocate for the protection of civilians and aid workers. The aid distribution is a sham, its just a further extension of the genocide under Israel and Mencer fell apart because no amount of Zionist spin and lies can save them from the position they are now in. The only way aid is going to get to the people that need it, is the immediate reinstatement of UNRWA along with peacekeeping forces to keep Israel away from any further involvement.
