"Welcome to the Shuv Show. I’m your host, Christene Jackman.
Tonight’s topic examines a verse commonly taken out of context to support an erroneous view regarding the Sabbath, and the Feasts of the Lord. Here’s the verse:

Romans 14:5
“One person regards one day above another, another regards every day [alike.] Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.”

Many people point to this verse and claim, “See! I can just choose any day of the week and treat it like it’s the Sabbath.” Why do they come to this conclusion? Because of teachings like this:

From Matthew Henry Commentary, regarding Romans 14:5
“We usurp the place of God, when we take upon us thus to judge the thoughts and intentions of others, which are out of our view. The case as to the observance of days was much the same. Those who knew that all these things were done away by Christ's coming, took no notice of the festivals of the Jews.”

In other words, Henry is claiming that the Messiah came and did away with the Mosaic Law, the Terms of the Ancient Covenant, that spell out how to walk in covenant faithfulness; even though Messiah Himself told us He did not come to abolish the Torah, the Law, but to fill it full of Meaning. See Matisyahu/Matthew 5:17.

And what of the prophecies yet to be fulfilled, like Zechariah 14 that foretells Sukkot, the Feast of Booths/Tabernacles, in the Kingdom to come. That’s a Feast of the Lord from Lev. 23 . . . "
