The Hangman (1959)

Directed by Michael Curtiz. It follows Deputy U.S. Marshal Mac Bovard (Robert Taylor), a relentless lawman known for bringing criminals to justice—often leading them to the gallows. Assigned to capture a fugitive hiding in a small town, Bovard encounters a local sheriff (Fess Parker) and a woman (Tina Louise) with ties to the suspect, forcing him to question his rigid sense of duty.
