The Blood Covenant; Your Legal Rights and Spiritual Authority | Open Book | Jun 3, 2025 | CR

You need to clearly distinguish between two different spiritual realities you will encounter in your Christian journey: captivity and tribulation. Captivity occurs when you find yourself operating within worldly systems - your workplace, educational institutions, or business environments - where you cannot fully express your faith values but must work within those constraints for survival and provision. This is similar to how the Israelites lived in Babylon: they were free to live their lives and prosper, but under foreign rule and influence that constantly pressured them to compromise their identity and values. Tribulation, however, is direct persecution and suffering you experience specifically because of your commitment to Jesus Christ and the gospel.
You must understand that through Jesus' sacrifice of His flesh and blood, you have been legally adopted into God's covenant family. This is not merely a spiritual concept but a legal reality that grants you specific rights and authorities. When Jesus walked the earth, those who already had covenant with God (the Jews) did not need to exercise faith for healing because Jesus simply healed them based on their covenant standing. However, Gentiles required faith to access God's power because they stood outside the covenant relationship. Now, through Christ's blood, you have been grafted into that same covenant and possess the same inherent rights to divine intervention.
Your relationship with God is no longer that of a beggar pleading for mercy, but of a covenant partner exercising legal rights that Jesus' sacrifice secured for you. When you face sickness, disease, financial lack, or any form of oppression, you must approach these situations from your covenant position, not from a place of hoping God might help you if you have enough faith. The faith you're called to live by is not faith to obtain things from God, but faith to exercise the authority and rights you already possess.
You need to understand that God never uses sickness, disease, or affliction to teach you lessons or discipline you. These afflictions come from Satan, and while sin can open doors for Satan to attack, God Himself does not afflict His covenant children. When sickness or oppression manifests in your life, your response should be immediate: repent of any sin that may have given the enemy access, apply the blood of Jesus through confession and faith, and then command the affliction to leave in Jesus' name.
The spirit that raised Christ from the dead literally dwells within you. This is not symbolic language but a spiritual reality that grants you access to resurrection power. This same spirit that conquered death in Jesus can heal any disease, break any bondage, deliver from any oppression, and even raise the dead. However, your spiritual authority increases through consistent practice and exercise of these covenant rights, not through passive hoping or religious activity.
When dealing with severe situations like death, understand that certain spiritual protocols exist. Physical presence is typically required for resurrection, and the environment must be free from unbelief and doubt. This is why Jesus often removed mourners and unbelievers before performing resurrections. While God can work supernaturally beyond these patterns, understanding biblical precedents helps you operate more effectively in crisis situations.
You must stop thinking of yourself as subject to the same limitations and vulnerabilities as those outside God's covenant. The blood of Jesus has legally separated you from the kingdom of darkness and established you in God's kingdom with full rights and privileges. When you repent of sin, the blood immediately cleanses you and restores your standing, giving you authority to command Satan to remove his influence from your life.
Your daily existence should reflect what scripture calls "the God-life" - living with divine authority over circumstances, health, provision, and spiritual opposition. This doesn't mean you'll never face challenges, but you face them from a position of victory rather than defeat, authority rather than victimization. The power dwelling within you is not passive but active, waiting for you to exercise it through faith-filled declarations and commands.
The key to walking in this reality is consistent practice combined with understanding. Each time you successfully exercise your covenant authority, you build confidence and spiritual muscle for greater challenges. Begin with smaller issues and work up to larger ones, always remembering that your authority comes not from your performance but from Christ's finished work and the legal standing His blood has secured for you.
