I Am The Worm story synopsis:

Hoarding.
Hoarding disorder. The need for things. Stuff. More and more stuff. Never enough. Can never be enough. Full to the brim homes. Possessions spilling out on the lawn. Filth. Trash. Anything and everything imaginable packed into a confined space. Or not, blanketing properties. Making junkyards, trash dumps, condemned spaces of places meant to be lived in. Places too often died in.
David Barker is a hoarder. His grandmother, the woman who raised him, was a hoarder. Becoming one after the traumatic loss of her husband. Her hoard killed her. David’s hoard is killing him. Something needs to change. He can’t continue on, burying himself as he is. He wants to change. Needs to change. Has tried to change. But he simply can, not, stop. He needs more. Always more. What he needs is help.
At last, he has it. In the form of Doctor Linnea Campbell. Clinical psychologist, and hoarding expert. But can she provide the help David needs to keep him from losing his home due his hoarding tendencies? Certainly. The real question is: Will David be willing to accept it, along with making much needed life changes in order to keep his home? Find out this and more in a story as horrifying as it is fascinating; sad as it is disgusting; funny as it is pathetic; depressing as it is hopeful. Because, at the end of the day, what David and every other hoarder feels is this:
Give me more…
I want less
