The Horten Ho-229 was the world's first jet-powered flying wing aircraft. It was the third prototype of this advanced German aircraft, which was never used in combat. It was developed in the final stages of the Second World War, when Germany urgently needed new weapons to change the course of the war. The design of the Ho-229 was an attempt to build a fast and extremely maneuverable fighter aircraft. In the decades after the war, the plane became famous for its unusual shape and its resemblance to the modern B-2 stealth bomber, raising questions about its supposed stealth capabilities. But was it really a stealth aircraft? This film answers that question and shows how it was built eight decades ago.
