Pbks beat mi in the qualifier 2 of ipl25 in Ahmedabad
The Qualifier two Match of Men's Tata IPL-2025 was played between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium Ahmedabad on 1st June, 2025. In this match Punjab Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets. In this match Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Mumbai Indians while batting first scored 203 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs and gave target of 204 runs to Punjab Kings to win. In reply Punjab Kings made 207 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19 overs and won the match by 5 wickets.
Mumbai Indians while batting first started well and their new opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow were going on with great guns at the score of 19 runs in 2.2 overs.
Rohit Sharma was first to go out caught by Vijaykumar Vyshak of the bowling of Marcus Stoinis. He contributed 8 runs from 7 balls hitting 1 four.
Then Jonny Bairstow with Tilak Verma started the onslaught on Punjab bowlers and added 51 from 29 balls for the 2nd wicket and laid solid foundation for the big score.
Jonny Bairstow playing his second match of this IPL edition, played a gem of innings of 38 runs from 24 balls hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. He was second to go out caught by Josh Inglis of the bowling of Vijaykumar Vyshak.
Then Tilak Verma with Surya Kumar Yadav continued the onslaught on Punjab bowlers and added 72 runs from 42 balls for the third wicket and laid solid foundation for the big score.
Surya Kumar Yadav was third wicket to fall at the score of 142 runs in 13.5 overs. He was caught brilliantly by Nehal Wadhera of the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal. He contributed quickfire 44 runs from 26 balls hitting 4 fours and three sixes.
Tilak Verma was fourth wicket to fall after scoring magnificent 44 runs from 29 balls hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. He was out at the same score of 142 runs in 14.1 overs and was caught by Priyansh Arya of the bowling of Kayle Jamieson.
Then Hardik Pandya with Naman Dhir launched the last onslaught on Punjab bowlers and added 38 runs from 23 balls for the fifth wicket which helped Mumbai to reach to big score of 203 runs. Hardik Pandya scored quickfire 15 runs from 13 balls hitting 1 four. He was removed by Azmatullah Omarzai caught by Josh Inglis.
Naman Dhir also got out after contributing valuable 37 runs from 18 balls hitting 7 fours and was out on the third ball of the last over. Naman Dhir was also removed by Azmatullah Omarzai caught by Marcus Stoinis. Raj Bawa remained not out on 8 runs With Mitchell Santner who also remained not out without scoring.
For Punjab Azmatullah Omarzai took two wickets. One wicket each was taken by Kyle Jamieson, Marcus Stoinis, Vijay Kumar Vyshak and Yuzuvendra Chahal. Mumbai Indians scored 203 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs and gave target of 204 runs to Punjab to win.
While chasing the target Punjab Kings batted superbly and got brilliant start from their openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh who added 13 runs from 13 balls for the first wicket.
Prabhsimran Singh was first to go out caught by Reece Topley of the bowling of Trent Boult after scoring 6 runs from 9 balls hitting one four.
Then Priyansh Arya with Josh Inglis batted with authority and slaughtered the Mumbai bowlers all over the park. They added 42 runs from 18 balls only for the second wicket and laid the solid foundation for Punjab to win.
Priyansh Arya was second wicket to fall after scoring quickfire 20 runs from 10 balls hitting 2 fours and 1 six. He was caught by Hardik Pandya of the bowling of Ashwani Kumar.
Josh Inglis was third wicket to fall after scoring valuable 38 runs from 21 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. He was caught by Jonny Bairstow of the bowling of Hardik Pandya.
Then Shreyas Iyer with Nehal Wadhera played magnificent match winning knocks compiled with caution and aggression. They added superb match winning 84 runs from 47 ball for the fourth wicket and brought Punjab at the brink of victory.
Nehal Wadhera played a gem of innings of 48 runs from 29 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes and was out at the score of 156 runs in 15.4 overs. Shashank Singh was run out on the direct throw from Hardik Pandya after contributing 2 runs only .
Shreyas Iyer continued his good batting and added unbeaten 38 runs from 15 balls with Marcus Stoinis and won the crucial match for Punjab. Shreyas Iyer played a captains knock with caution and aggression. Out of 38 runs partnership the contribution of Marcus Stoinis was only 2 runs.
Shreyas Iyer played a gem of innings of 87 runs from 41 balls hitting 5 fours and 8 towering sixes. He remained not out along with Marcus Stoinis who also remained not out on 2 runs from 2 balls. They gave a thumping victory to Punjab to enter the Finals of IPL-2025.
Ashwani Kumar bowled well and took two wickets. One wicket each was taken by Trent Boult and Hardik Pandya. Shashank Singh was run out.
Punjab Kings scored 207 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19 overs and won the match by 5 wickets. With this win Punjab entered into the finals of IPL-2025 to play with other finalist RCB on 3rd June 2025 at Ahmedabad.
