Jacks Creek Rt 19E Burnsville NC to 197N in Green Mountain. Most of this 11 mile stretch of road along Jacks Creek and the North Toe River and many of the homes along their banks were destroyed by Helene. To be able to drive it from beginning to end today is truly astonishing. This was all done while never shutting the road down entirely. One lane and section at a time. I filmed on a Sunday due to ongoing repairs and line painting. Workers are off Sundays. Also the speed limit on this road is 50 mph. I could drive slower with few cars on the roads. Huge progress has been made in the last 8 months and a huge amount of work still needs to be done. Yancey County is 319 square miles in total.
