Gameplay Part 1

BioShock 2 provides players with the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat and compelling award-winning storytelling. The halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture, the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and their own survival.

In this playthrough we cover:

Level 1: Adonis Luxury Resort:
Ten years after the fall of Andrew Ryan, players awaken in the ruined elegance of the Adonis Luxury Resort—this time as Subject Delta, a prototype Big Daddy. Haunted by fragmented memories of a Little Sister named Eleanor, Delta begins to piece together his shattered identity. As the decaying art deco walls groan under the Atlantic’s weight, a new voice enters the fray: Sofia Lamb, a former psychiatrist turned fanatical collectivist leader, who sees Delta as a threat to her utopian vision for Rapture. Lamb seizes control of the city, severing Delta’s connection to Eleanor, and forcing him to begin a desperate journey through the city’s underbelly to reunite with her before the psychological bond between them becomes fatal.

Level 2: The Atlantic Express:
Delta makes his way into the abandoned Atlantic Express train depot, once used to transport Rapture’s citizens between districts. Guided remotely by Augustus Sinclair, a pragmatic former businessman with his own murky motives, Delta learns that reaching Eleanor will require traversing much of the fallen city. The train itself becomes a symbol of progress halted—its rusted tracks mirroring Rapture’s descent into chaos. As Delta reactivates the train and prepares for travel, he’s confronted by Lamb’s loyal Splicers and propaganda broadcasts that frame him as an enemy of the people. The stage is set for a long and violent ride through Rapture’s final days.

Level 3: Ryan Amusements:
The train stops at Ryan Amusements, a twisted propaganda park originally designed to indoctrinate children into Ryan’s objectivist ideals. To proceed, Delta must acquire a ticket and power up the station, but in doing so, he’s forced to confront the ghosts of the past—both literal and ideological. As Delta explores exhibits depicting the dangers of altruism and the virtues of the self-made man, he tangles with Splicers and gathers Plasmids to bolster his strength. In one of the exhibits, Delta finds his first Little Sister, reestablishing his bond with Eleanor and enabling ADAM harvesting once again. Through the cracked voiceovers and wax figures of a bygone age, the level underscores the collapse of Rapture’s original dream—and the ideological war that continues to poison its ruins.

Level 4: Pauper's Drop:
Delta arrives at Pauper’s Drop, a crumbling slum district turned stronghold for Lamb’s followers. Here, Delta encounters Grace Holloway, a former lounge singer who now leads the area under Lamb’s ideological banner. Grace harbors a deep hatred for Delta, believing him responsible for Eleanor’s suffering. As Delta fights through Splicers and rigged traps, he learns more about Grace’s past—and is ultimately given a moral choice: exact revenge or show mercy. Sparing her life earns Grace’s reluctant respect and weakens Lamb’s hold over the people. The level serves as a microcosm of Rapture’s broken class structure, where hope has curdled into zealotry and survival depends on difficult decisions.
