Lalu Yadav's Plea Rejected | Big Setback in Land-for-Jobs Scam Case.

In a major legal setback for Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, the Delhi High Court has rejected his plea to stay trial court proceedings in the high-profile ‘land-for-jobs’ scam case. The court ruled that there is no compelling reason to halt the trial and allowed Yadav to present his arguments during the charge framing stage. The case, being investigated by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), accuses Yadav and his family members of accepting land parcels from job seekers in exchange for railway employment during his tenure as Union Railway Minister.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Yadav, challenged the legality of the FIR and charge sheets, citing lack of mandatory sanction. However, the CBI argued that all required approvals were obtained under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Meanwhile, a Delhi court has also reserved its order on framing charges against Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, and son Tejashwi Yadav in related IRCTC and money laundering cases.
