Operation Mashkaaf, launched on March 11, 2024, was the largest and most coordinated operation in the history of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The Jaffer Express, carrying 426 passengers, was intercepted in the Bolan region—214 military and intelligence personnel were taken hostage, while 212 civilians were safely released by BLA fighters. Despite clear warnings, the Pakistani military launched a reckless assault, resulting in the deaths of all hostages and exposing the state’s disregard for its own forces. The operation involved several specialized BLA units: the Majeed Brigade’s Fidayeen Unit controlled the hostages, Fatah Squad led strategic combat, STOS units supported ground operations, and the ZIRAB Unit (BLA’s intelligence wing) oversaw planning and coordination. Professionally recorded and broadcast with upgraded visuals, the operation exposed Pakistan’s propaganda machine—state media falsely claimed all hostages were rescued, yet failed to show a single proof. The only individuals shown were women and children, already released by BLA as civilians. Once again, the occupiers were reminded: the mountains belong to the people, not the invaders.
