More communities across the Prairies Saturday have been told to evacuate immediately, given the aggressive start to the wildfire season in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

The latest numbers show over 620,000 hectares have been scorched — an area bigger than Prince Edward Island — at just the beginning of the season.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has declared a province-wide state of emergency.
