Piggybacking Zone Offense Action v. 113 &/or 131 Zone Defenses

Preparing for Dave Boyce & Brent Shafer's 113-zone twice a season was a daunting task. First, we never knew how they would employ their infamous zone. Some games it was extended with an extreme amount of on-the-ball & passing lane pressure & other nights it was more packed-in. No matter what formation they used, it was an extremely hard zone defense to score against.

We called this action "Piggybacking," & mainly used this concept v. high pressure/extended 113 & 131 zones. The primus is overloading the zone with two shooters following each other to a side of the court. In order for this action to be effective, there must be a low-post player located on the overloaded side of the court.
