COMBAT BRIEFING NUMBER 1195

"Operational Update: Strategic Advances and Combat Losses as of May 31, 2025"
"Military Situation Report – Russian Armed Forces Special Military Operation"

"Operational Summary"

As of May 31, 2025, the Russian Armed Forces continue to execute the special military operation with sustained multi-front offensives, precision strikes, and deep penetration into enemy defenses across eastern and southeastern Ukraine. The past 24 hours reflect intensified activity from all Russian force groupings, resulting in the capture of key settlements and the destruction of critical Ukrainian military assets.

"Northern Axis (Sumy & Kharkiv Oblasts):"
Units from the "North Group" liberated Vodolaghi in Sumy. Combat actions neutralized elements of Ukrainian mechanized, airborne assault, and ranger brigades. Losses included over 225 Ukrainian personnel, two tanks, multiple armored vehicles, and ammunition depots. An "Iskander missile strike" in Sumy Oblast also destroyed two US-supplied HIMARS launchers.

In Kharkiv, the "West Group" pressed forward, capturing ground and engaging Ukrainian mechanized, motorized infantry, and National Guard units. Total reported losses were over 220 troops and multiple armored and logistical vehicles, including two US-made M113 APCs.

"Donetsk Sector (Southern, Center, and East Groups):"
The "Southern Group" stabilized and reinforced its frontline positions, defeating Ukrainian airmobile and mechanized brigades near Seversk, Serebryanka, and Konstantinovka. Ukrainian casualties approached 275.

The "Center Group" improved its tactical posture by degrading four enemy brigades near Alekseyevka and Vladimirovka, accounting for 440 enemy personnel and five armored vehicles.

The "East Group" liberated Novopol in the Donetsk People's Republic and inflicted damage on Ukrainian mechanized and territorial units. Losses included up to 185 servicemen, eight vehicles, and one EW station.

"Southern Axis (Zaporizhia & Kherson):"
The "Dnepr Group" inflicted casualties on coastal defense and territorial defense units near Pavlivka, Nikolskoye, and Antonovka. Over 80 Ukrainian troops were killed, along with the destruction of artillery and electronic warfare assets.

"Aviation & Missile Strikes:"
Russian tactical aviation, UAVs, missile troops, and artillery struck 147 enemy sites, including:

" UAV production and storage facilities
" Ammunition and fuel depots
" Temporary deployment points

Air defense downed 169 Ukrainian aircraft-type UAVs. Strategic missile forces using the "Iskander" system targeted high-value Western-supplied assets with confirmed destruction.

"Cumulative Statistics (since Feb 2022):"

" 663 aircraft, 283 helicopters
" 60,592 UAVs
" 23,671 armored vehicles, 1,565 MLRS systems
" 25,491 artillery/mortar systems
" 36,243 military vehicles

"Operational Analysis & Implications:"

The continued success of Russian forces in Sumy and Donetsk Oblasts indicates a strategic intent to apply pressure along multiple axes simultaneously, diluting Ukrainian capacity for concentrated defense. The targeting of US and NATO-supplied equipment — notably HIMARS systems — reflects a focused effort to disrupt Western material advantage.

The destruction of Ukrainian EW systems, logistics hubs, and UAV production infrastructure is intended to degrade Ukraine's ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance) capabilities and diminish battlefield responsiveness.

Russia’s synchronized use of air, missile, and ground assets showcases improved joint-force integration and an increasingly attritional doctrine aimed at exhausting both manpower and materiel.
