“Exploring the Pandemic of Modern Antisemitism”
The lecture will explore the rise of antisemitism locally, nationally, and globally, providing data & critical insights:
—Analysis of two decades of Anti-Defamation League (ADL) survey data, documenting the worldwide prevalence of extreme antisemitism, including the most recent data from 103 countries released on January 14, 2025, as well as independent, validating data to complement the ADL’s findings.
—Examination of potential theological drivers of the most widely prevalent form of antisemitism in connection to the October 7, 2023, massacre in southern Israel and the subsequent surge in antisemitic rhetoric and attacks globally (with specific examples from Rhode Island).
—Brief discussion of why these data & theological drivers are so poorly known, & charting a path forward
