Hope launches a multi-objective raid to recover steel, silver, and a mechlink. Tiffy’s militor army expands as new corpses are resurrected from the battlefield, and Flebe becomes a full mechanitor. Meanwhile, preparations begin for a War Queen summoning, with mortars and shells stocked in anticipation. Back home at Hope, orbital trade helps thin the herd and food demands, while the colony formally shifts to Free Path by appointing a leader and a moral guide. Just as things stabilize, Hope is ambushed by devourers, giant monsters that can eat colonists whole. Thanks to clever turret placement and help from two enraged visitors, the colony survives and even manages to celebrate its first Free Path fiesta.
