The so-called Pride Month is severely affected THANKS to President Trump's policies
Trump’s policies hit so-called Pride Month hard: Corporations pull support, LGBTQ events face major cuts
As summer reaches its peak across the U.S., LGBTQ organizers expected a record-breaking celebration for the so-called “Pride Month.” Instead, they are facing a new reality shaped by the return of conservative values under President Donald J. Trump. With World Pride scheduled for June 7 in Washington D.C., LGBTQ groups nationwide are reporting significant funding losses directly tied to Trump-era policies.
Organizations say that corporations are increasingly cutting ties with Pride events as they phase out diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in line with the federal administration’s new standards. Those programs, once viewed as moral imperatives by progressives, are now being seen as ideologically driven and divisive, prompting companies to reconsider their support.
Stonewall Pride in Wilton Manors, Florida, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary on June 14, is among those hardest hit. Organizer Jamir Betty stated that corporate sponsorship has dropped by 20% compared to last year. “It’s like a complete 180,” he said, describing the dramatic shift in tone and resources.
Bruce Horwitz of Miami Beach Pride echoed those concerns, revealing that their event in April also experienced a significant drop in both corporate funding and international attendance. “Progress is slow,” he admitted, “but this isn’t two steps back. It’s ten steps back.”
The growing trend reflects a broader political and cultural shift in America. With President Trump’s return to the national stage, his administration has signaled a clear rejection of what it sees as forced ideological compliance. Businesses, now wary of aligning with radical activism, are pulling back to avoid alienating their consumer base and navigating political risk.
In this context, DEI programs are being scaled down or eliminated altogether, and corporate America is reassessing its involvement in polarizing cultural debates. As the financial support wanes, LGBTQ organizers are calling on their community and allies to step up. “Don’t be discouraged,” they urge, emphasizing grassroots resilience over corporate dependence.
This pivot marks a significant moment in the ongoing cultural battle. The era of unconditional corporate activism may be drawing to a close, replaced by a more balanced approach rooted in neutrality and respect for ideological diversity. For many Americans, this change is a long-awaited course correction.
