Episode 182 - The Malcolm X Assassination (Part XII)

The fiction that was the NYPD/FBI investigation of the Malcolm X assassination did not begin to unravel until 1977 - 12 years after the murder. It began with a sworn affidavit from the assailant captured on the scene in which he named his four accomplices (which again, did NOT include the names of the two men falsely accused by the government), and gave previously unknown details of the plot, including where the conspirators were from (Newark, NJ Mosque #25), where they were positioned in the Audubon Ballroom, and who shot with what gun.

Following the affidavit, the autopsy report confirmed that Malcolm X died as a result of the three gunshot blasts, identifying "gunshot man" as Malcolm X's killer. More documents forcibly released by an order of Congress revealed the name of "shotgun man" (Bradley) and a lucky break revealed his Muslim name (Shabazz).

So, according to the evidence, the assassination was NOT a plot by 3 men out of Mosque #7 in Harlem as the government maintained. Instead, it was a plot by 5 men out of Mosque #25 in Newark. Hagan/Hayer's accomplices were NOT Butler/Aziz and Johnson/Islam. Instead they were Benjamin Thomas, Leon Davis, William X (Bradley), and Wilbur Kinly with Bradley firing the fatal shots with a sawed-off shotgun.

According to FBI documents, all of this was known by authorities in the aftermath of the assassination. The FBI had descriptions of "shotgun man" that matched their own description of William X Bradley. Instead of arresting him, they simply let him walk away, content to convict two innocent men in his (and the others) place.

What caused the FBI to steer the investigation TOWARD the Nation of Islam and its Harlem Mosque #7? What caused the FBI to protect the Newark conspirators operating out of Mosque #25? Why would the FBI knowingly allow two innocent men to take the rap, allowing four guilty men to escape justice? Could it be that investigating the Harlem Mosque implicated the Nation of Islam while an investigation of anything Newark-related might lead back to BOSSI, COINTELPRO, and the FBI?
