Breaking: Catastrophic Glacier Collapse

This exclusive video footage shows the devastating glacier collapse in Blatten in the Swiss canton of Valais, which occurred on May 28, 2025. The majority of the Birch Glacier broke off and collapsed into the valley along with huge masses of debris, burying parts of the previously evacuated village.
The catastrophe had been feared for days after a slow-moving landslide on the Kleine Nesthorn had deposited around nine million tons of debris on the glacier and exerted enormous pressure on the ice masses. As a precautionary measure, the authorities evacuated around 300 residents from the danger zone in the popular Lötschental vacation region.
