HOW ABOUT SOME HIGHWAY SANITY?
I’ve got some ideas to make driving more pleasant, efficient, and safer too!
"It's not too many cars. It's too many idiots driving cars."

#1. Raise driving age to 18 yrs NO EXCEPTIONS!

#2. Make Written Test essay answer, no more multiple choice!

#3. Print study materials and written tests in English only!

#4. Make written test 100 questions with 80% a pass!

#5. Make written test a timed exam limited to 1 hour!

#6. Re-tests must wait 6 months for a do-over!

#7. Make the driving test more difficult! Include parallel parking, parking on a downgrade, parking on an upgrade, and parking close to a curb.

#8. Include backing up 100 feet & ending within the white lines of a parking space.

#9. Include merging with traffic, passing on a busy street & approaching a yellow traffic light.

#10. Issue a removable “P” Probationary tag to be displayed on all vehicles whose driver has less than 1 year experience. If your "P" driver changes vehicles, the tag does too.

#11. Issue a probationary [1st year] driver license in “Portrait” format with letter “P” superimposed over the license.

#12. Issue double points & fines to anyone cited while still under a probationary license.

#13. Limit passengers for “P” Driver to 2.

#14. Require different license classes for any vehicle weighing over 4,500lb. Issue special class licenses for pickups, vans, motor homes, any size tow-behind trailer. Motorcycle licenses must be in the following categories; over 50cc but less than 250cc vs. over 250cc but less than 500cc vs. over 500cc.

#15. Driver licenses should be valid for only 4 years. They may be renewable by mail only when driver has lost no points off his driver's license. In this case or when 8 years have passed [1 renewal] they’ll have to re-test all phases both written and practical again.

PUNISHMENTS: DUI 1st offence w/no injuries or property damage = 2 years suspension of license, 100 hours community service, and a return to 'ground zero' "P" status upon re-issuance of license.

DUI 2nd offence; permanent revocation of driver license and any fines, jail time, or other punishments as required by law.

DUI 1st offence resulting in death of another, 25years to life imprisonment w/o early release. DUI 2nd offence resulting in death of another, confiscation of all wealth and possessions and the death penalty. EXCEPTION: In the case of dependant spouse or children then all wealth and possessions remain with his or her survivors.
