This is a ten-minute video from the FEMA Determined Accord Workshop featuring then-CDC Director Thomas Frieden's July 2009 Flu Summit remarks. He focuses on the significance of the H1N1 Flu Virus outbreak and opens with: “In fact, influenza may be the most unpredictable of all infectious diseases.” He displays and discusses numerous statistical 2009 H1N1 infographics and other slides, in addition to one concerning past pandemics. He describes H1N1 as a pandemic influenza strain. According to his statistical analysis, he includes pregnant women with several types of comorbidities, as “groups which we know are at higher risk of severe disease and higher priority for protection going forward.” He included a Charles Darwin quote at the end of the presentation: “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent … It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”
