"We just need to recognize the way our mind is as it is, and then rest in equipoise within that as it is." -Trungu Rinpoche

Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
Trungu Rinpoche was a great Buddhist master and he is giving a very important instruction here. He's telling us that we need to recognize our mind the way it is, as it is, and then rest within that. This is deceptively simple advice, but very, very profound. Recognizing the way our mind is means we need to just stop what we're doing, look carefully, and just observe. What do we observe? We observe our mind. We observe our thoughts. We just watch without judging. This is recognizing the way our mind is as it is. It's simple and yet not easy to achieve. We learn through the practice of meditation to observe our mind without judgment, without expectation, without any opinions, we just watch it and we notice what it does. Through this we learn about ourselves, about our mind, and about reality as it is. Then, as he says, we rest in equipoise. That means we rest in a way that is not disturbing the mind. Just let it be. This is very important and very profound.
