Episode 181 - The Malcolm X Assassination (Part XI)
The FBI ratfucking of black civil rights organizations - particularly the black Muslim Nation of Islam - was carried out through its COINTELPRO operation with its stated goal of disrupting its activities by discrediting the leader and the movement.
The surveillance of the NOI and Elijah Muhammad revealed that Malcolm X was really the one who might have become the "Black Messiah" that J. Edgar Hoover so feared. Especially AFTER he left the NOI when his stature grew from domestic to international, from a divisive figure to a unifying one.
The COINTELPRO playbook always included the option of assassination...if other, less extreme measures didn't work. Might that indicate why three prominent black civil rights leaders - Fred Hampton, Malcolm X, and MLK - who, according to the FBI's own documents were targeted by COINTELPRO, were all assassinated in the 1960's? Might that also give strong clues as to who (or what) was responsible?
