He said no one in the B.C. government will give him any financial assistance and he’s still paying a mortgage on the home. “What I think I’m gonna lose is close to a million— $800 to $1 million— which I’m still paying for and there’s no asset there ” Rampersad said.

During the atmospheric river in 2021, a slide came within five metres of Chris Rampersad’s house, but did not reach it.

Rampersad told Global News that despite this, he has been told his property is assessed at $2 and he should move out.

He said no one in the B.C. government will give him any financial assistance and he’s still paying a mortgage on the home.

“What I think I’m gonna lose, is close to a million— $800 to $1 million— which I’m still paying for, and there’s no asset there,” Rampersad said.
