We found temporary adjustable posts being used as permanent structural supports.
Yes, the IRC has revised code that allows these posts under strict conditions —
But they must:
• Be non-adjustable once installed
• Have a minimum 3” diameter
• Be engineered for permanent load-bearing
That’s not what we found.
Even the architect who designed the project was on-site — and he wasn’t impressed.
He immediately called for proper bearing points and confirmed the build wasn’t up to spec.
Don’t gamble with your foundation.
