Cop takes life after Lasik gone bad

Police officer and others off themselves after alleged complications of Lasik ellective eye surgery. Are these rare side effects just noticed more because of the high amounts of surgeries performed yearly, at a rate between 700,000 and 800,000 per year, or is there more to it that is not being accounted for or under reported
