Only One Soulmate?

In the mid to late 1990's, there was a popular and prevalent belief that was being taught, preached and sold as being Scriptural and true. That belief was that God has created a man or woman for every Christian to be their soulmate, their One and Only. Churches, ministries, Bible teachers and pastoral preachers got on the band wagon. They created dating and romance teaching series, sermons, CD's, retreats and christian books that was based on the faulty premise that God has created a soulmate for every Christian.
This is a lie like the little leaven that works through the whole dough. When a follower of Jesus Christ is told that there is only One soulmate that God has created for them, it puts a dream and fantasy that puts their future spouse on a pedestal and causes the Christian to place their thoughts and affections on seeking their spouse with anxiety they might make a mistake and marry the 'wrong' person. The lie that the Christian must go out and stress, pray, study, worry about whether this guy or gal is their 'soulmate' takes their affections for Christ, and derails the spirit of the 1st and greatest commandment; To love the Lord Your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength (Matt. 22:37 & Mark 12:30). This lie of having a God created "soulmate" has also wrecked many marriages where one, or both, of the spouses believes they married the wrong person and they must divorce so they can go out and find their real soulmate. Dr. Ed Young destroys this lie in this sermon.
