Leviticus 20

Punishment for Molech Worship and Spiritism (v.1–6)

Child sacrifice to Molech is condemned and punishable by death.

Turning to mediums and spiritists defiles a person; God will set His face against them.

Call to Holiness and Obedience (v.7–8)

God's people are to consecrate themselves and obey His statutes.

“I am the Lord who sanctifies you.”

Capital Offenses: Sexual Sins (v.9–21)

A detailed list of forbidden sexual relationships (many repeated from Leviticus 18).

Violations include adultery, incest, homosexuality, bestiality, etc.

Many are capital offenses, underscoring the severity of corrupting God's moral order.

Warning Against Pagan Practices (v.22–26)

The Israelites are told to obey God’s laws or risk being "vomited out" of the land, like the nations before them.

“Be holy to Me… I have set you apart from the nations to be Mine.”

Judgment for Mediums and Spiritists (v.27)

Mediums and spiritists are again condemned and are to be put to death.

The seriousness of sin – Violating God's commands, especially regarding worship and sexuality, has real consequences.

God's holiness requires separation – God's people are to live differently than surrounding nations.

Judgment and mercy – While the chapter emphasizes judgment, it is rooted in God's desire to preserve the purity of His people.

Honor God with your body and worship – Idolatry and sexual immorality are still major issues today.

Live a holy life – Christians are called to be set apart (1 Peter 1:15-16).

God's justice is real – While Christ offers grace, sin is still serious and destructive.

Avoid compromise – Believers are called to reject the practices of a corrupt culture.
