In this video, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema came out at US President Donald Trump following a live telecast of Trump's confrontation with President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House. Trump showed decontextualised videos of Malema and accused him of inciting violence against white farmers, an assertion based on the long-refuted "white genocide" conspiracy theory.

Malema retaliated against Trump and Ramaphosa, calling them cowards, liars, and disrespectful. He also reiterated the EFF's position on land reform and dismissed the US government's interference in South African politics.

The White House incident has prompted broader debate across the continent. Many Africans see Trump's comments as part of a long tradition of Western powers using disinformation and racial anxiety to sabotage African independence. The attempt to frame African leaders and liberation movements as threatening or illegitimate is an old tactic dating back to the colonial era, which has been reinforced using powerful propaganda, foreign economic pressure, and diplomatic humiliation.

Across Africa, the struggles for land reform, economic sovereignty, and national self-definition remain unwon. Malema's response has been interpreted by many as a necessary assertion of African dignity in the face of continuing Western aggression and condescension. Transcending South Africa, this event has morphed into a broader conversation about how Africa handles foreign narratives that still attempt to distort its realities and stunt its political progress from beyond Africa's borders.
