India: Heavy Rain Causes Waterlogging in Mumbai, Flight Operations Affected | N18G

Heavy overnight and morning rain has thrown Mumbai off track, flooding key areas like Kurla, Sion, Dadar, and Parel. Waterlogged streets have slowed traffic, and flight operations have been affected. The weather department has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for heavy rain in Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, while Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are under an ‘orange’ alert for hefty rain. Thunderstorms with winds up to 60 km/h are expected in parts of Maharashtra. Officials have asked people to stay cautious. The southwest monsoon hit Maharashtra on Sunday, the earliest in 35 years and is expected to reach Mumbai and more regions soon. The IMD says the monsoon will spread to several southern and northeastern states in three days.
